Parrot in the park: AR Drone helicopter flight test

Jack Riley

Ever since it debuted at this year’s CES technology fair, the Parrot AR Drone has been featuring on the wish lists of geeks everywhere keen to get their hands on a model. Controlled by iPhone or iPod Touch, it’s a four-blade helicopter with two cameras to help navigation (and spying) and for use in the augmented reality games (which need to be seen to be believed; video here). Since we had one to play with yesterday, Rob Sharp and Simon Rice decided to square off on a test to see who had the piloting skills to land on our very natty Independent helipad. For the results check out the video above. The quadricopter will be available in HMV for £299 from 18 August – as Rob helpfully points out in the video, just in time for Christmas.
