ART
DL.Dropbox.com

An iPhone app for art lovers. Designed by German artist Sascha Pohflepp, Buttons allows users to “take other people’s pictures”. Depress the button, and the image that pops up in the screen will be another person’s picture, either taken at that same location or at the same place anywhere else in the world at exactly the same time you pushed the button. The tacky façade of Kansas City Public Library is built to resemble the spines of books. Take a look at the world’s most bizarre buildings, then be thankful that you don’t live near them. More likely, the solution to our continuing life lies in the isolation of the mechanisms in our cells that keep them free from accumulating waste products. Ind.pn/cUchkP

PUBLISHING

Some publishers are skipping over traditional print to create publications especially for the iPad. In one of the latest direct-to-iPad initiatives, Richard Branson’s Virgin empire has announced plans to launch its first consumer magazine, ‘Maverick’, without a print or online edition. And they’re not the only ones. Ind.pn/az8lSp

For their new work, Klaxons may have parted ways with their previous producer but it looks like they have stuck with the same video director. Saam Farahmand, responsible for all of Klaxons’ memorable videos on ‘Myths of the Near Future’, directs the boys again, this time taking them to desert surroundings. Ind.pn/cS1SB6
