Caitlin Rose slays an already Slaughtered Lamb

Simmy Richman

OK, there are better videos of Caitlin Rose’s Wednesday-evening Clerkenwell show at the Slaughtered Lamb out there, including this HD one on YouTube http://tiny.cc/lh9cm. But we do what we can here at the Americana-lovers’ wing of the Independent and times are tough, budget are tight etc.

I went with my friend William, a talented musician in his own right. He records under the name Vonesvonic, and your humble blogger got him to open the live-karaoke section of my wedding last year (a mistake as things turned out as he was too good and intimidated everyone who had to follow him). Watch him in action here: http://vimeo.com/3384805

Having battled our way to the front, the iPhone came out and caught this rather lovely moment. It wasn’t the best song of the night, but it did prove that us moody Londoners will take part in a good old-fashioned singalong if the singer and song are good enough. As you can tell, we were putty in Caitlin’s hands. And if you think the performance sounds a bit rowdy and drunken, that might have something to do with the nuclear-strength double bourbon yours truly sent up to the stage for Ms Rose’s delectation.

You can catch Caitlin Rose supporting Phosphorescent at the Scala next week or on her short UK tour with the wonderful Deer Tick later in the month.

In the meantime, enjoy!
