Left Foot Forward’s false claim Ed M is members’ darling
Left Foot Forward, the blog that is not supporting Ed Miliband for Labour leader, has an interesting article about “media manipulation” today. Its opening sentence is:
Ed Miliband’s leadership campaign may not have the money that his older brother David’s does, but he is sure that the support of 4,500 volunteers has made up for it.
The implication is that, although David has more money, Ed has more volunteers. Yet Jessica Asato, head of social media for David Miliband’s campaign, tweeted earlier today:
Really pleased to see 5500 people have volunteered for @DMiliband’s campaign! Many on our online phone bank… http://bit.ly/anVcXv
Claire French at Left Foot Forward also says that Ed M’s fundraising overtook David M’s in the last month, as if this were a matter of momentum rather than of donations decided by trade union leaderships in defiance of what is known of members’ preferences.
This in a post accusing The Sun (above) of manipulation and false claims.
