Republicans don’t abstain in Delaware
Baffling, but true nonetheless. Republicans in Delaware have cast aside Michael Castle, the establishment figure to run for the US Senate in November, in favour of Christine O’Donnell, the Tea Party-favoured candidate (and Palin-favoured) whose whole public career thus far seems to have been built on advocating sexual abstinence, even self-abstinence, if you see what I mean.
The more we learn about O’Donnell the more unreliable she seems to be. Listen to what the manager of her last attempt to run for the Senate has to say about her. Not complimentary.
Of course, this is marvellous news for the Dems. Their rather dull candidate might now win in November, making it much harder for the Republicans to take control of the Senate. And it’s marvellous news for political reporters too. These midterms will not be dull.
There will be lots to say tomorrow, not least the power of the female vote. Oh and if Paladino beats Lazio for the Republican nomination for Governor in New York… wow. (UPDATE: he has)
His campaign material included emailed pics of the President and Michelle photoshopped as a pimp and a prostitute. Classy.
