    Well… perhaps so. I certainly think his use of “smuggling” is unnecessary, emotive and perhaps misleading.

    I have looked for the term “smuggling” on the charitable site and can’t spot it. They explicitly state owning a radio is not illegal, although I can’t vouch for the legality of the process by which radios may cross the border into Burma.

    NoWSo we have Hari telling us that the operation is smuggling, i.e. a crime, and Amnesty not telling us anything much. And you want us to contribute our hard-earned money to this? What’s next – Amnesty fronting some of the opium that Burma produces in order to help the suffering population?

    Yes I do. It’s a good cause. Enabling people to communicate is always a good thing.
