What’s it all about, Alfie?
Alfie Boe hates the term “Crossover” – so when he’s given his Rudolfo in La Boheme and his Nanki-Poo in The Mikado over at English National Opera and slipped effortlessly back into giving his Jean Valjean in Les Misérables over at the Queens Theatre (he rejoins the production in June) the transition will be quiet and unassuming – like the man himself.
Once you’ve played La Boheme on Broadway (as Alfie did in Baz Luhrmann’s staging) you tend not to draw distinctions…
