iBet: Barcelona to conquer Arsenal
Champions League, First knockout phase
Lay Arsenal to qualify against Barcelona at 3.4 to one
With all the grim weather around, it’s a good time to take a look at the Champions League betting. The dates for the first legs of the knockout phase proper are February 22nd and 23rd. On the face of it you can’t envisage Man Utd having too many problems overcoming Marseille, and they are about 1/3 on to qualify over the two legs.
However, it has to be remembered that Marseille are no mugs and in a group featuring Chelsea, Spartak Moscow and Zalina, the French team finished with a goal difference of plus nine. Chelsea are even shorter to make it through against Copenhagen and while they are unlikely to make any mistakes with the second leg at Stamford Bridge, there’s better value elsewhere. Arsenal are 3.4 to one to qualify against Barcelona and they have to be a lay against the best football team on the planet.
The Gunners’ defence is just too porous, and Barcelona’s attack too deadly. But there should be goals in both legs. The tightest of the ties involving English sides see Spurs playing Milan, starting at the San Siro. Italian football isn’t what it used to be and Milan only just scraped through to this phase. I expect Spurs to progress over the two legs and they can be backed to do so at around 5/4.
