Online House Hunter: Millionaire row
A MILLION pounds here, a million pounds there and soon you’re talking serious money. So goes the famous quote from, I think, Howard Hughes, though feel free to correct me by posting below.
It was brought to mind while reading Oliver Bennett’s piece on buyers of £1m-plus homes hoping to beat the increase in stamp duty on April 6. The rate is set to rise from four per cent to five per cent.
But it did set me thinking as to what you can buy for £1m in the property market these days. So here’s a few I found while browsing our online search engine..
South Kensington: A one-bedroom flat in one of the most desirable parts of London for £935,000.
Fife: The eight-bedroom Middlefield House, in Cupar, Fife is £995,000 and comes with nearly 11 acres of land.
Lake District: Escape to the English Lake District with five-bedroom Huntingstile Lodge in the idyllic village of Grasmere. Price: £1.1m
Snowdonia: Or how about a converted Methodist chapel in Wales. The Moriah Chapel at Dolwyddelan, Gwynedd is now an eight-bedroom Grade II listed building. Price: £1.1m
