Caught & Social: Jude bags himself a Brazilian Pat-a-like
We’ll admit it – when Jude Law first split from Sienna Miller, we were worried. We pictured him as a lonely figure, moping around a cold house in his worst clothes; convinced he would never love again. Thankfully, his recent trip to the Rio Carnival proved us wrong on all counts. Throwing on a beerbranded T-shirt, Jude leapt into the party spirit and, it seems, found a companion to not only stave off loneliness, but also offer him all the passion that the Rio Carnival can offer. At the time of going to press the lucky young lady remained unidentified, but unverified reports that it was EastEnders actress Pam St Clement, are thought to be wide of the mark. In the middle of the parade, meanwhile, Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen took to a float for the Vila Isabel samba school, and rode through the streets. Her countryman, football star Ronaldinho showed just why he moved back to his homeland, as he is obviously allowed to take time off from his club, Flamengo, to dance through the streets in a natty white suit and hat, left. By the time you read this, we’ll be scouring the shops looking for an outfit just like it.
Angry-dog T-shirts are all the rage…
Those not in Brazil seemed to be in Paris as the city’s fashion week carried on apace. But Kanye West, normally one of the most enthusiastic of fashion-show goers, appeared miserable as he arrived at his front row seat for the Givenchy show. What could be ailing our favourite diamond-toothed singer? Maybe it was the fact that the actress Liv Tyler turned up at the same event in exactly the same T-shirt – one that had what looked to be an image of an angry Rottweiler on it. Or maybe it was just because she looked better than him in it.
Scene & heard
You know her as an Oscarwinning actress, but it seems that Gwyneth Paltrow is focusing her attention on starting a music career. According to the New York Post, Paltrow, wife of Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin, is in talks with Atlantic Records over a music deal. Paltrow’s music stock has been rising after starring in the film Country Strong and duetting with Cee Lo Green at the Grammys. Reports suggest, her style of music is “country pop”. Now, where did we leave that stetson? With Gwyneth focusing on music, we’re going to need a new favourite film star. Thankfully, Arnold Schwarzenegger is back (just like he said he would be). Having quit politics, Arnie says he’s considering around 15 films including “obvious ones from The Terminator to remakes of Predator and The Running Man,”he said. “Then also a lot of original stuff, too. But I am also packaging a comic book character right now. I’m going to announce that sometime by the end of March or the beginning of April.”How will we fill our time until then?
Frozen in time: musical history
When this picture arrived on our desk here at C&S, we presumed it was yet another press release from Madame Tussauds. But the i picture desk assures us that rather than waxworks, these are indeed the real thing. And what’s more, David Gest, Cliff Richard and Lamont Dozier weren’t just hanging out and swapping hair-dying tips. It turns out they were announcing Cliff’s new album, featuring a series of duets, with Motown songwriter Dozier producing and Gest “executive producing”. We wish it had been from Madame Tussauds now.
