Caught & Social: Kate’s knees-up at the W hotel
To the latest in a seemingly endless run of launch parties for the W hotel in London. Last night it was for the W London Calling Party that Kate Moss introduced a “supergroup”comprising Roger Daltrey, Mick Jones, Jay Mehler and Zak Starkey to entertain the crowd, which included a St Patrick’s-themed Boy George, Nick Moran and Alexa Chung. Miss Moss was later spotted dancing in a room that was, as far as we could see, full of drag queens and cupcakes. Having her own little party, meanwhile, was Samantha Morton, riding up and down in the hotel lifts with friends, while Jade Jagger was treated to a show by a male burlesque dancer. C&S left in the early hours, while the party was on all night. Let’s hope that any guests staying enjoyed an old fashioned knees-up.
On the subject of celebrity nude pictures (see Scene and Heard), singer Leann Rimes has hit out at the media who suggested she was looking unhealthy. She tweets: “It’s time for a nude pic so peeps can see how I look nowhere near what these stupid pics are trying to make me look like.”We’ll take your word for it… Colin Farrell, himself the subject of a sex tape and Rihanna, alleged subject of leaked nude photos, are apparently an item. Perhaps in an attempt to redress the Hollywood-music world balance. Ashley Greene the actress (alleged revealing photos) and Joe Jonas (sex pic status unknown) have sadly split. Going in a different direction, musically speaking, is Britney Spears (alleged sex video), who tells Rolling Stone that she is exploring her darker side with her new album: “I love Circus but I wanted something darker and edgier.”
Having to listen to Radio DJ Chris Moyles for 51 seconds is enough to make one throw the radio out the window, but to listen to his 51.5-hour show would be… Well, we won’t say, as he’s doing it all for charity, namely Comic Relief. To help him on his way, Moyles has been entertained by a series of fellow DJs and celebrities, including Lily Allen, who popped in to wish him well.
Scene & heard
A spate of celebrity sex tapes and nude pictures could be down to a “hacking ring”. TMZ.com reports that the FBI believes upto 50 stars have had phones and emails hacked and personal pictures taken. But celebrities, do you want to know the best way to avoid a photo scandal? Don’t take them in the first place… It always seems X Factor judges are chosen on their ability to gurn, fight and cry on cue rather than musical nous. So it’s a surprise to hear that an actual record company boss is set to join the team of the new American X Factor. LA Reid, right, a Grammy-awardwinner has stepped down as chairman of Island Def Jam records ahead of the move. Just to be on the safe side, he should probably work on his crying . In what is the Hollywood equivalent of “getting the band back together”, the original cast of American Pie have signed up for another installment of the coming-of-age-meetsgross- out-series. Gird yourself, dear readers, for even more knob gags.
