Caught & Social: Mr Hudson in sparkling form
When we received the invitation to the launch of Champagne house Dom Perignon’s new “glow in the dark”label, we thought “this is just the sort of cultural event we need to be covering”. And so we duly went along to the venue in Mayfair, and we can report that the label does, indeed, glow in the dark. R&B singer Mr Hudson was also there, having a drink with rising star Eliza Doolittle. Hudson, a protégé of Kanye West, told us he is busy working on a third album. “I want an English sound,”he said, “a dirtier, rougher sound, so that you’ll have to get the Hoover out after you listen to it.”
i on Arnie
Who knew bodybuilders could be so judgemental? The National Fitness Hall of Fame, of which Arnold Schwarzenegger is not only a member but “Fitness Spokesperson of the Century”, asked its members whether it should expel Arnie from the organisation. Luckily for him, they announced: “Mr Schwarzenegger’s personal life should be just that, PERSONAL.”In other good news for the former governor of California, Us Weekly magazine reports that his wife, Maria Shriver, is encouraging their children to “forgive their father”. In less good news, the magazine also says she will file for divorce by the end of the week. The National Enquirer gets serious by suggesting Arnie used public funds to cover up his indiscretions, while Star magazine gets silly by saying he paid for his housemaid’s cosmetic surgery…
Just a week after their Californian wedding, the Kings of Leon singer Caleb Followill and Lily Aldridge were out last night in London watching the Parisian avant garde circus Le Crazy Horse perform at supperclub. But they didn’t look like a traditional honeymooning couple as they were joined by Caleb’s brother and bandmate Jared, and Lily’s half-sister Saffron Aldridge, right. The band are in the UK ahead of a concert in Ireland this weekend, so it looks like any proper honeymoon is on hold.

Are you one of the many plutocrats who reads this column? Well Courtney Love wants you. “The guys I sleep with have tended to be actors and musicians and directors. And they tend to be lousy lays,”the singer says. “These days I’m only interested in plutocrats. Like really, really rich guys. I’m determined to land one sooner or later…. I think I can be a real asset to a wealthy man.”But she admits that she is too much of a “libertine” to be completely faithful. David Hasselhoff, another completely normal star, believes he has special healing powers. “I did a tape for a kid saying, ‘Hey buddy, it’s Michael Knight, Michael Knight [his character from Knight Rider], come on, wake up, wake up, wake up’,”he tells Radio 5 Live. “The phone rang and they said, ‘remember that kid you did the tape for that was hit at that crosswalk in London? Well, we played the tape for him and he came out of the coma’.”That’s not all. He adds: “That’s happened to me 1,000 times all around the world.”
Fair way to go for team Evans
Chris Evans would do well to listen to his caddie, for not only is Natasha Shishmanian an accomplished player and golf writer, but she is also his wife. The pair took to the course at Wentworth for the Pro-Am tournament ahead of the professionals tournament this weekend. Other celebrities included Vernon Kay and Sir Clive Woodward, but we believe only Evans brought his wife to carry his bag for him.
