Caught & Social: Prince Harry’s in the fast lane
While his brother and new sister-in-law were busy hobnobbing with some of Hollywood’s hottest talent, Prince Harry was making the most of being allowed to wander where he pleased at the British Grand Prix.
Naturally he was on hand to give his full support to British McLaren drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, but sadly couldn’t inspire them to reach the podium. Harry’s warmest greetings, however, were saved for his old friend, the dentally magnificent drum and bass DJ, Goldie.
Girl’s louder than ever
In the tabloid press, Nicola Roberts was once the most-mocked of girlband Girls Aloud. Now she is starting a career as a solo singer, with some new songs that prove she is perhaps the most legitimate artist of the group, which she performed for the crowd at Weston Super-Mare at the T4 on the Beach event. Fans were less happy, however, when boyband JLS pulled out
of the show late on after they claimed on Twitter that they were refused a sound check and camera rehearsal (whatever that may be). The event’s website, meanwhile, put their no-show down to “technical issues”.
Scene & Heard
For those of you biting your nails ahead of the arrival of David and Victoria Beckham’s new child, the wait is over. The baby girl was born on Sunday morning at LA’s Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles and weighed in at 7lb 10oz. The child’s impeccable timing means
its arrival has coincided with the visit to Hollywood of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall. Meanwhile “friends”of the Beckhams have been quoted as saying they think it would be “wonderful” if the royal pair would be godparents.
Dig out your Prince of Wales check, chaps, it’s back in fashion. Or so says Dominic West, star of the Wire, who has hailed Prince Charles as the world’s finest clothes-wearer. “Charles is the best-dressed man in the world. His suits are incredibly sharp.”West, speaking at a Clarence House dinner for the 35th anniversary of The Prince’s Trust puts Charles’ sartorial skill down to the influence of the Duchess of Cornwall. “He used to dress appallingly before he married Camilla,”he says. Who knew?
