Caught & Social: Beckham’s girls on film
David and Victoria Beckham introduced the newest member of the clan, Harper Seven, to the world, by posting these pictures online yesterday. Victoria posted one picture of David with his daughter, writing: “Daddy’s little girl”, while David returned the favour, by posting a photo of mother and baby, writing: “I took this picture of my two girls sleeping.”A touch nauseating? Certainly. But at least they posted their own picture of the child online first, rather than the going for the somewhat unsettling option (favoured by some of their Hollywood neighbours) of selling the first pictures to the highest magazine bidder.
Caine fears Sky will fall in
The phone-hacking scandal even made it to the red carpet in Leicester Square for the premiere of children’s film Cars 2. Sir Michael Caine (who lends his voice to the film) said he was worried it was going to affect his TV watching. “Are we going to lose Sky television? I love Sky Sports,” he said, before adding: “A small section of all the parties, the police, the press and the government, are to blame, a very small section, and they’ve got to get rid of them.”But he admitted he wasn’t too concerned whether he had been a phone-hacking victim. “If you hacked my phone, you’d fall asleep,” he said.
While many (including us) were struggling through the mud to get to the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup yesterday, Lily Allen and Kevin Spacey seemed to have the right idea: take a helicopter. While Lily and new husband Sam Cooper were keen spectators at the annual polo match, the only sport Spacey managed to see was a quick game of table football after lunch, as he had a prior engagement at the Old Vic, as Richard III. “I would love to stay, but I have to be onstage at 5pm,”he said, before heading back to his chopper.
Scene & heard
Joss Stone has revealed that the recent royal wedding was just like any normal English nuptials. “I had a lovely time… It was like being part of a fairytale,” she told E!. “After the church I ended up getting totally rat-a**ed with like ten people I’d never met before in my whole life. It was brilliant.”
Fellow singer Paolo Nutini has appealed to hip hop star Jay-Z to follow up on his Glastonbury offer of a collaboration. “What happens next? I don’t know, I don’t know whether he just says that… or maybe he said that because he wants to do it,”he told Absolute Radio. “If that’s the case, Jay-Z, give me a phone and I’m ready, I’m ready.”
“It was always clear Sacha Baron Cohen was going to be a superstar,” the newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky says of the Borat actor. “My first presenting job was as his sidekick on a talk show and he was an extraordinary talent. A few dreadful things happened: guests taking their clothes off during a live broadcast, things like that – I’m sure he orchestrated them.”Tagged in: celebrity gossip, David Beckham, Harper Seven, joss stone, Kevin Spacey, Lily Allen, michael caine, Paolo Nutini, sacha Baron Cohen, victoria beckham
