Fixtures confirmed as Premier League nears return

Jamie Carragher fears Liverpool could be in “trouble” if they lose one of their star front three to injury.

The Reds are on course for a first Premier League title and moved a step closer with a point against Everton in the Merseyside derby on Sunday in their return to competitive action following the coronavirus hiatus.

Mohamed Salah sat out of the fixture and in his absence Jurgen Klopp’s side struggled to fashion opportunities against a stubborn Everton side.

Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have been in fine form this season but Carragher believes, after them, there is a “massive drop off” to those in reserve.

“The front three are as good as anyone in Europe but when just one of them isn’t playing there is a massive drop off,” Carragher told Sky Sports after the game.

“Go back to the Manchester United game earlier in the season without Salah. I feel that’s why Liverpool still need to strengthen their front three.

“(Divock) Origi is a legend at the club for the goals he scored but they still need more. (Takumi) Minamino is not for me.

“If they lost one of the wide players for a while through injury, they would be in trouble.”
