Online House Hunter: The Chalfonts
LIVING in the Home Counties surely doesn’t come much better than residing in the Chalfonts. This idyllic part of leafy Bucks includes Little Chalfont, Chalfont St Peter and Chalfont St Giles. Quintessential English villages tucked away in the wooded edges of the Chilterns with beautiful parks and countryside close by. Is this really the same Chalfonts that is within spitting distance of the M25 and just a few stops on the Amersham line into central London?
It’s little wonder that this neck of the woods bucks the generally uninspiring price trends of today’s property market and commands good prices, represents a good investment and seems to have little trouble in selling houses whatever other conditions prevail.
I’m not going to pretend that first-time buyers or people on low incomes are going to find buying property in this area easy. For that you’ll be looking at the neighbouring towns of High Wycombe, Rickmansworth or Slough. But for those who can afford a home in the Chalfonts you can look forward to a comfortable lifestyle and – as much as anything is certain in the property world – a good return on your investment.
So this is Shangri La, the Garden of Eden and El Dorado all rolled into one? Well, did I mention the HS2 rail link which could cut across the top of Chalfont St Giles and through Amersham? The pros and cons of that particular project are outside the remit of this article but you if you’re looking to move into the area you’ll need to be aware of it.
