  Outrageous. These are not prices that people can afford, let alone those on a first time buy. People who say property prices will soar are talking nonsense. How can they do this when people cannot afford to buy them and mortgage funds are scarce.

  The reality is that property prices will drop substantially over the next ten years and do you think incomes will have gone up by then? Not a chance. We will have ten more years of lost generations of highly qualified people unable to find work, who will go abroad.

  This is how the coalition will be judged at the end of the day. The deficit cutting is a fine story when you have a secure income and a roof over your head and a future. When you have no job and no prospects the last thing on those people’s minds is deficit cutting.

  This will do for the coalition eventually, if not this election, then the one after, and is a wonderful chance for Labour to have a blueprint for jobs and back to work Britain. I doubt this current leader is up to it, but until someone is, the voting pattern will be negative and scores people who would normally vote will not have the enthusiasm to do so.
