The call of the open road
In amove that seems to come from the Japanese fashion for Chindogu, lavatory manufacturer Toto has designed a motorbike bike that runs on “biogas”, or less euphemistically, human waste. This week, the bike, (complete with a lavatory where the seat should be) sets off from Toto headquarters in Kyushu for Tokyo, a journey expected to take a month. ind.pn/totobike

Peel me a clove
Beardie Todd Coleman, from the foodie magazine Saveur, demonstrates how to peel an entire head of garlic in less than ten seconds. All you need, allegedly, is the garlic and two vast, identical bowls. We’re yet to test the technique personally, but it looks likely to save a lot of effort. ind.pn/Easygarlic

With this riot, I do thee wed
The last thing anyone wants on their wedding day is to emerge from the church into the middle of a riot and/or peaceful protest. After a couple leaving a church were snapped in front of a police corden at an EDL march, this couple found themselves on Brooklyn Bridge during the occupy Wall St protests this weekend. ind.pn/riotwed
