Caught & Social: Sun, sea, but not Sandals
It wouldn’t be an early new year column without a few celebrities frolicking on expensive-to-get-to places around the world. Gary and Danielle Lineker led the way with a romantic stroll along the beach at St Barts, a resort so exclusive that you almost have to be a celebrity to be allowed in. Meanwhile, in Miami, the former Harry Potter actor Tom Felton, pictured right, took to the high seas for a spot of jetskiing with his girlfriend Jade Olivia close behind.
Scene & Heard
Britain’s Got Talent, the show that brought us Susan Boyle and, er, Paul Potts, is coming back for a sixth series. Realising, perhaps, that his shows’ ratings dip without him, Simon Cowell is back as a judge alongside Amanda Holden and newcomers Alesha Dixon (formerly of Strictly) and David Walliams. The winning act will receive £500,000, We’d better get practising… The undoubtedly talented Sir Paul McCartney has chosen a name for his new romantically themed album, Kisses on the Bottom. Cheeky. There are unlikely to be any more kisses on the bottom between Katy Perry and Russell Brand, as their divorce saga rumbles on. According to The Daily Star, Brand had to endure a “sex ban” while Perry was away on tour (presumably that means he couldn’t cheat), and he is now moving back to the UK. The Sun says Rihanna is providing Perry with a shoulder to cry on and has offered up her place in Barbados as a retreat. The Mirror, however, says Perry is off to Mexico. Who to believe?
After the autumn orgy of X Factor, I’m A Celebrity and Strictly, the new year brings with it a new round of shows that only the very cruellest would refer to as “second tier”. One of those is Dancing on Ice,which yesterday unveiled, er, a glittering roster of contestants. They include actor Corey Feldman (The Lost Boys, Gremlins), Sugababe Heidi Range, a skier and a freerunner.
