iBet: Aston Villa’s home form is woeful and this weekend it’s Manchester City
Aston Villa v Manchester City, Premier League, kick off Sunday 4pm
Back Manchester City at 8/11 with Betfair, Coral or Paddy Power
If Aston Villa don’t beat Manchester City on Sunday it will be their longest run of home games in Premier League history without a league win, and although they have shown more spirit since the turn of the year and looked more potent in attack since Robbie Keane joined, I can’t see anything other than defeat against the league leaders. Manchester City are just coming out of a sticky patch but they now enter a run of easier looking games and they certainly looked focused in dismantling Fulham 3-0 on Saturday. Villa have been pretty poor at home this season and the home fans have been getting on the manager’s back. Indeed there are rumours of a protest before kick-off and that will not help things. If we made a table just based on home form, Villa would only be seven off the bottom and here they play the top scorers away from home.
Advices
Harry Redknapp will no doubt take the England job but there’s no value left in the market. However, there’s a big discrepancy in the odds for the next Spurs manager position with Skybet making Jose Mourinho 2/1 and Bet365 quoting 9/2. The Special One has made no secret of his desire to come back to England next season and unless you think Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger is going to step down, the Bet365 price could be a touch of value.
