Circular firing squad at a crossroads
Politico has identified seven dreadful clichés of campaigning in and commenting on the Republican primaries. Some of them (“It’s the economy, stupid”) are already on my Banned List; some of them are US-specific (“Democrats fall in love; Republicans fall in line” — when choosing their nominees); but the following are going on the Supplement that I have been compiling since the publication of The Banned List book:
Circular firing squad. Must have been brilliant when it was first used. Not any more.
At a crossroads.
The only poll that matters is the one on election day. Apart from all the opinion polls.
It all comes down to turnout. Yes, but what decides whether people turn out or not?
Did somebody mention the book? Amazon has cut the price of the Kindle edition to £3.99. So download it now and never use a cliché again.
