All the talk before the FA Cup final on Saturday was that goals would be in scarce supply, but the second half was wide open and the Merseysiders were probably a bit unlucky not to grab an equaliser in the end. Chelsea have been pretty amazing under caretaker manager Roberto Di Matteo with only two defeats in 18 games since he took over. The 2-0 loss at home to Newcastle on their last league game was a real blow to their chances of finishing in the top four this season though, and they must win their last two games to have even an outside chance of qualifying for the Champions League through that route. Liverpool have had their worst season at home for years in terms of wins. They have been victorious only five times on home soil – that’s less than Blackburn and QPR. However, only the two Manchester clubs have conceded fewer goals this season, and with Chelsea having the third best defence away from home (again bettered only by Manchester City and Manchester United) the stats suggest a goal fest is unlikely.

Advices

Andy Carroll looked in his best form since he joined Liverpool when he came on in the second half of the FA Cup. He’s 13/2 to score the first goal with a number of firms, and a best price 9/4 with Stan James to score at any time.
