Is there a relationship between the decline of smoking and the decline of profits at JP Morgan?

gordon gecko smoking a cigar 300x225 Is there a relationship between the decline of smoking and the decline of profits at JP Morgan? The full version of number 807 in my series of Questions to Which the Answer is No is:

I’m reluctant to bring this up again, but is there a relationship between the decline of smoking (pondering things with a cigar) and the decline of profits at JP Morgan on smoke-free Wall Street?

Asked by David Hockney, in a letter to The Guardian. Now that, I think, is what I need to close my selection of QTWTAIN  for the book of the meme.

Thanks to David Boothroyd.

It has fought off competition from a rich crop of such questions today. Number 808 is asked by NME.

The ’90s – Best Decade For Music Ever?

Thanks to Bill Kristol-Balls (precisely).

Number 809 is not a genuine QTWTAIN, because Peter Walker of The Guardian does not imply that the answer is yes, but a worthwhile exposure of a voodoo poll nonetheless:

Do 57% of UK cyclists jump red lights?

Thanks to Martin Parks.

And finally, the Evening Standard asks number 810:

End of the Kebab?

Thanks to Zoah Hedges-Stocks.

The worst thing that happened as a result of all these laws against advertising fags etc is that we could not longer enjoy those marvellous Hamlet cigar adverts while listening to Bach’s Air on a G String.

Here is a question for you.  The answer is probably NO, but it could well be YES.

Are they going to bring in a Law against being a Human Being? (on the grounds that being a Human Being could be dangerous to the health)

Well I used to love the black-and white one which ended “You’re never alone with a Strand.”

Mr.Rentoul-I have a strong feeling that the answer to about half of your QTWTAIN is in fact “Yes.”

    PORKFRIGHT,

Yeah, some of the old black and white stuff can be better in some cases, without all those gaudy colours wearing your eyeballs  out.
