iBet: Sweden v England could be tight
Sweden v England, Euro 2012, kick off 7.45pm
Lay over 3.5 goals at 3.5 to one with Betfair
It’s hard for me to envisage a goal fest in this game between two sides that look to be sadly lacking in attacking flair. Without England’s only world class forward in Wayne Rooney available, manager Roy Hodgson has little choice but to play a relatively conservative formation with hard graft and team work at the core of his ethos. And that’s been demonstrated in his three games in charge, which have produced two 1-0 friendly victories and a 1-1 draw with France. It’s obvious that England don’t score many with this system, but are hard to score against. If anything the mood in the Swedish camp is even more gloomy. They came into the tournament off the back of a great run of eight wins in ten games, but their 2-1 loss to Ukraine with fixtures against England and France to come puts them in an unenviable position. One of their two losses in that run was a 1-0 defeat to England in November. In a wide open group, a draw would not be a disaster for England as they would then target three points in their final game, when Rooney is back. It probably won’t be 0-0, but it could be tight.

Our tip for Germany’s Mario Gomez to be the tournament’s top goalscorer at 9-1 is looking good after his double against Holland – he’s now into as short as even money. If you backed with Betfair you can now take your stake off and be left with a tasty bet to nothing.
