A fall guy for the Barclays scandal has been selected and it’s centurion-sounding chairman, Marcus Agius. @saurabhkakkar is sympathetic: “Not sure why Marcus Agius had to resign. Surely he could have been posted somewhere remote: Hibernia, say, to command the Northern Legions.”

Liam Fox

The Tories’ eurosceptic-in-chief, Liam Fox has given a speech recommending the UK should leave the EU, adding to the pressure on the Prime Minister to hold a referendum on Europe.  Among the political commentary on Twitter, there are tweets disappointed that the topic doesn’t refer to One Direction’s Liam Payne – who is a ‘fox’, apparently.

Chaka Khan

Chaka Khan is every woman, we already know that. Specifically, though, she’s a young Nicki Minaj, according to Twitter, which is ablaze with “separated-at-birth” pictures of the two singers. Chaka Khan is also touring at the moment, so that’s handy.

Spain

The greatest football team in Europe? In the world? In the history of the Universe? Following Spain’s historic win in the Euro 2012 final, opinion is split. @hellobuglers says: “Reports emerging that Spain’s & Italy’s governments agreed that loser will pay off the winner’s national debts #highpressuregame”
