Back Victoria Azarenka at 7/2

We are nicely ahead at Wimbledon thanks to our lay of women’s favourite Maria Sharapova coming good, and I’m investing some of our winnings in Victoria Azarenka. The current world No2 has looked very impressive indeed so far and produced her best performance yet in seeing off No14 seed Ana Ivanovic 6-1, 6-0 in the last 16. She is in Serena Williams’ half of the draw, but the American could be another vulnerable favourite and has already been involved in two closely-fought three-set matches, whereas former world No1 Azarenka has not dropped a set. She no ‘good thing’ but at a generally available 7/2 the 6ft tall right-hander from Belarus is decent value.

Advices

Skybet are offering 8/1 against the men’s final being won with an ace, and they also go 16/1 that there will be a 6-0 set in the final. It’s around 11/4 with Betfair that there will be a new winner, while Betfred are best about Andy Murray reaching the final at 15/8, in a market where Roger Federer could be a lay at 2.6 to one with Betfair. Betfred also offer odds about which quarter will produce the eventual winner, with the 1st quarter, which includes 10/11 favourite Novak Djokovic, the 8/13 favourite.
