iBet: Back Sergio Perez in the British Grand Prix

British Grand Prix, Silverstone

Back Sergio Perez to finish on the podium at 12-1

Bad weather can make Formula 1 races far more of a lottery and with a wet weekend forecast it could pay to look for a bit of value in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. It has to be said that Vettel (3-1) looked streets ahead of his main rivals until let down by mechanical trouble in Valencia, including both Lewis Hamilton (4-1) and Fernando Alonso (11-2). But Red Bull’s prime tyres need temperatures around 120 degrees Celcius to really get into the zone and that’s not going to happen this weekend in Northamptonshire. Likewise McLaren and Lotus have historically had problems in putting their tyres on in cooler conditions – in fact in Malaysia where drivers had to cope with a drying track the faster cars in dry conditions struggled, and Sauber’s Sergio Perez was the fastest man on the track for much of the race and nearly won it. The Mexican admittedly hasn’t been brilliant lately in qualifying but the closest circuit in terms of layout to Silverstone is probably the Circuit de Catalunya, where he qualified in fifth in May. He has a reputation of looking after his tyres better than most.
