iBet: Back Kevin Pietersen to be England’s top batsman
England v South Africa Test series
Back Kevin Pietersen to be top England batsman at 4-1
Take the hint from Kevin Pietersen’s 234 not out for Surrey in the match against reining County Championship Division One Champions Lancashire last week, and back him to be England’s top batsmen in this three-match series. The 32-year-old is a very driven cricketer and although he would probably still like to represent England in limited overs cricket, he in concentrating on the Test arena because he knows that’s how the history books will judge him. ‘KP’ is now a very experienced international cricketer with 86 tests to his name and nearly 7,000 runs, and he has no doubt set himself a personal target of 1,000 career runs. He averages an excellent 49.33 in tests, which is better than Ian Bell, Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook. Jonathan Trott averages a little higher, but he is going to have to open up against the world’s best pace attack with a new ball. In what looks like being a tight series, in-form Pietersen will of course be especially motivated against the country of his birth and looks worth a bet at 4-1.
If you are having an each way bet on The Open golf tournament starting on Thursday, take note that Paddy Power are alone in paying out on the top seven places and their prices are competitive.
