Betfair World Matchplay Darts
Back the winning double in the final to be Double 20 at 5/2
Lay Great Britain to win Group A in Olympic football at 2.66 with Betfair
Darts aficionados will enjoy the next week as the Betfair sponsored World Matchplay takes centre stage. It’s an event that Phil Taylor has more or less made his own, winning it ten out of the last 12 years and he’s a best priced 13/8 to be victorious again, and 5/6 to make the final. It’s hard to back against him – he’s in fine form and arguably has the best half of the draw. If you fancy him, you might as well back his ‘quarter’ to provide the winner at 6/4 instead, as you get all the other players in the third quarter on side as well. But plenty of his rivals are in great nick too and it might pay to look at some of the many alternative markets for value. Scoring machine Simon Whitlock and former champion James Wade, who loves this tournament and who has by all accounts practised hard, could be value in the ‘Without Taylor’ market at 5/1 and 6/1 respectively with Boylesports. If you fancy that there will be a nine-dart finish in the tournament, you can get 6/4. It’s long odds-on that there will be maximum 170 finish at some point. You can also bet on what double will win the final, with double 16 the ‘jolly’ at 9/4 and Taylor’s favourite, double top, a 5/2 shot.
Advices
Brazil’s Olympic footballers saw off Great Britain at a canter and are best priced 7/4 to win Gold, with Spain 11/4 second favourites. Limited Great Britain could be a fun lay at 2.66 to win a Group A that features a talented Uruguay side including Suarez and Cavani. Uruguay’s senior side is ranked No3 in the world.
