After Sir Chris Hoy’s glorious triumph yesterday, it’s good to know the Olympic cycling’s not over yet. The BMX events begin this afternoon and British hopes are riding on Victoria Pendleton’s former team-mate and current room-mate, @ShanazeReade. A tweet from yesterday indicates she’s in good spirits: ”BMX starts tomorrow with Time Trials, then Friday is finals day, BBC1 around 3.30pm-6pm. Practice again later today! Love this track!!!”

Daily Express / Dutch

The proudly patriotic newspaper has made a bit of a boo boo this morning. Their front page includes a celebration of Team GB’s dressage success; shame the picture is of the bronze medal-winning Dutch team. @markthomasinfo says “A 1st, the Daily Express have a foreigner on the front page without the words ’stealing our jobs’http://twitpic.com/agtctj ”

Royal Mail

Twitter grumbles about Royal Mail plans to put all the paraolympians on one stamp, while able-bodied TeamGB medalists each get their own. A blow to equality? Or a fuss over nothing? @ParaolympicsGB don’t seem too bothered: ”We are happy with @RoyalMail stamp plans for gold medals. Great reason why group not indiv stamp. 42 Gold in Beijing!”

FIFA

The new football world rankings have been released and England are at…number 3???  @morriskid tweets: “Nearly spat me poached eggs out seeing England are 3rd in Fifa rankings… #shambolic“  BBC Sports correspondent @DanRoan is equally incredulous: ”England up to best-ever position of 3rd in latest edition of FIFA’s ludicrous World Rankings, above Uruguay, Italy, Argentina, Netherlands.”

Little London Girl

If Justin Bieber still seems like an implausibly tiny pop star, prepare to be terrified by the global music industry’s ever-more-fetal output. This song by @GreysonChance (born in 1997!!!!) is trending worldwide. Fan tweets are typically sinister: @Potatooooes says, “Little London Girl , i hope you don’t complain about your life, or i’ll kill you. Friendly, The Little Jealous French Girl.”
