On the first, my anecdotage is that some parts of the Spanish economy are more efficient than others. On the second, I thought the Spice Girls looked great.

While I was away, David Cameron abandoned Lords reform and Nick Clegg killed the new parliamentary boundaries, the second of which was hugely significant, as discussed in this excellent analysis by Ron Johnston and Charles Pattie at Nottingham University.* Further reading from Peter Kellner and The Economist.
