Julian Assange / Sweden

It was reported yesterday that the Wikileaks founder may be effectively imprisoned in the Ecuadorean embassy, where he is seeking assyluym to avoid extradition on rape charges. He cannot leave without risking arrest. @OwenJones84 has written for The Independent today on why the allegations must be taken seriously, whatever we think of his political activities. @JohnRentoul has put forward Assange’s legal arguments against extradition. @edstaite is a cynic: “If we all stop talking about Julian Assange he will pop out on his own accord as he’ll be gagging for some attention.”

MOTD

Yep, the football season is once again upon us, and with it punditry from the BBC’s flagship footie show, Match of The Day. Harry Redknapp is rumoured to be joining the team. @GaryLineker is excited; “The first Saturday of the Premier League season approaches. Always one of the highlights of the sporting year. Bring it on! #MOTD”

#It’s2012And

Sometimes it feels like time flashes past in an instant, but for these social media users, it’s not moving fast enough. Som complaints: @PlagiarizeTweet: “#its2012and McDonalds still doesn’t deliver”  @stephyarmani: #its2012and you still have an egg as your twitcon. @Official1DArmy; “It’s2012and I haven’t met One Direction yet”

Ian Brady

Police are investigating whether the ‘Moors Murderer’ Ian Brady has written a letter detailing the whereabouts of the remains of victim Keith Bennett, following the arrest of his mental health advocate. @DavidAllenGreen tweets “The arrest of Brady’s (or anyone’s) Legal Advocate seems a cause for concern.”
