Stephen Twigg, Labour’s education spokesman, has replied to the letter from Nick Gibb, the Minister for Schools, which I reproduced yesterday.

I am glad to see that Twigg has withdrawn the allegation that Michael Gove tried to cover up 10 of the playing field sales, and he makes a fair point about transparency.

It remains the case, however, that the rate of playing field sales is lower under the coalition than it was under Labour, and that Labour, too, sometimes disagreed with the advice of the independent panel.

    Error not cover up. Will Tony ever move to error not deceit I wonder. In another decade or two we may see it in the hope of history taking a kinder view of him.
