Q&A with ‘Being Human’ actress Kate Bracken
Actress Kate Bracken spoke to Neela Debnath about joining BBC3’s supernatural drama ‘Being Human’. The show focuses on a vampire, werewolf and ghost living together and trying to exist peacefully alongside humans.
What was it like becoming a full time member of the cast on Being Human?
Oh my god, the day I found out I was just over the moon. I was just dancing around my flat when I found out.
How did you get involved?
The day after I moved to London I had an audition for Being Human, I got a call back from that audition. I waited and I thought I had missed out but then I got a call saying that I got the part. I knew I was in for three episodes and they said: ‘you know you might be in the next series you might not’. I never fully expected to be asked to come back – so chuffed.
Which was your favourite episode of series 4?
Oh my goodness! I loved all the little bits me and Damien [Molony] had to film with bits of banter and then the last episode was brilliant, there was a lot of fun bits in that. I can’t choose – it was all fab.
Were you a fan of show before you got the part?
I hadn’t watched a lot of it before I got the audition. I made sure I watched bits of it so I knew what I was kinda going for. Then as I was watching through the episodes I thought to myself ‘why have I not watched this before?’ because it’s brilliant writing.
What’s it like working with co-stars Damian Molony and Michael Socha?
They are lovely, lovely lads and they’re just a laugh. A good laugh and it’s just a pleasure to be working with them.
What else have you got coming up?
So I’ve got the next series of Being Human and I did a little episode of New Tricks for the BBC so that will be coming out soon.
Would you rather be a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost?
I’m going to stick with the ghost, I can throw people around!
‘Being Human’ will return next year
