iBet: England will keep it tight against Moldova

Gareth Purnell

World Cup Qualifier

Moldova v England, tomorrow, kick off 7.45pm, live on ITV1

Back an England clean sheet at 8/11

Back Robin Van Persie each way for the Premier League Golden Boot at 11/4

England haven’t lost over 90 minutes in their last 17 competitive games whilst Moldova’s only victory in their last seven came against hopeless San Marino. Unsurprisingly, betting comparison site Oddschecker.com reports that over 80 per cent of bets have been on Roy Hodgson’s side, but the best prices you will get about them winning are 3/10 with 188Bet and 1.34 with Betfair. Moldova have failed to trouble the scorer in their last four (all away) and in fact they have not scored since last September, so the 8/11 about an England clean sheet with Ladbrokes and Coral will interest many, especially as England don’t play an expansive game away from home under Hodgson. With Andy Carroll and Wayne Rooney injured, Jermain Defoe looks set to lead the attack – he’s 4/1 with BetVictor and Coral to score first. In their previous two meetings, England have led Moldova at half time and full time – a repeat is 5/6 with the high street bookmakers. You can get odds against with Betfair on England winning both halves.

Advices
With the benefit of hindsight Robin Van Persie was a brilliant bet for the Premier League Golden Boot at pre-season odds of around 8/1. Having scored four already (and missed a penalty) he’s now 11/4 and barring serious injury that is almost an each way bet to nothing, with most firms paying out place money on the top four.
