Something For The Weekend in London: September 14-16

London’s gone a bit festival-mad this weekend – something’s gotta replace The Games? But you’ll be pleased to know you can sidestep the mud and poor sanitation for quality music, arts and cinema that should make your next few days quite entertaining. It all comes courtesy of the London Design Festival, a music extravaganza around Brick Lane and a fest of films celebrating working people – but if you’re after food, make a beeline to the Museum of London for their new historical cooking series, or the opening The Factory House, a Victorian-style hangout that’s also taking inspiration from the good old days…
FRIDAY
ART & CULTURE: The London Design Festival (various locations)

We say: This week sees the stylish crowds strutting in for the start of Fashion Week but while people-watching can be a diverting pastime, mere mortals should look beyond the stiletto-clad denizens of Somerset House and onwards, to the restored warehouse of Central St Martins in King’s Cross, the public space of Trafalgar Square, and the hallowed halls of the V&A. Here’s where you’ll find the various events making up the 10th London Design Festival
