Toy 300x225 Video interview with ToyCeaseless pursuit of “the next big thing” at the more prosaic end of music journalism has proved as successful as water divining in the Atacama dessert. Occasionally though a band emerges which unites writers and audiences in both critical acclaim and expectation for development. TOY presently occupy that position.

Below is an interview with lead singer Tom Dougall and bassist Panda on their debut record, their creative processes, the hallucinogenic singularity of their visual style in promo videos and at live shows, what films they are watching, what new music they are listening to and why identity matters.

    as i read somewhere else the other day, the problem for people trying to sell us new music is that there is a massive body of previously recorded music to compete with.
