iBet: Don’t back Vettel to win Brazilian Grand Prix
Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos, qualifying Saturday 4pm, race Sunday 4pm
Lay Sebastian Vettel at 2/1 with Betfair
Back under 36.5 points England v South Africa at 5/6
From what I can find out online there’s a 60% chance of rain in the deciding Grand Prix of the season in Sao Paulo, after fine weather during practice.
That adds a magic ingredient of uncertainty and although Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull have been dominant over the last few races and Vettel secured pole last year, the value could still be to back against him. The logic behind the bet is that although he probably has the fastest car, he doesn’t need to win. In fact he can finish fourth and still win drivers’ championship even if Alonso triumphs in Brazil. The 2.6 mile Interlagos track is bumpy, undulating and narrow and the altitude affects car performance by as much as seven per cent.
Vettel showed in the last race against Hamilton that he was able to let discretion be the better part of valour, and he might again be prepared to give up the win to ensure the greater prize of the championship.
Rugby: Rain is also forecast in London and that could make for a low-scoring clash between England and South Africa. It’s a match-up that smacks of being tight anyway and the value may be to back under 36.5 points at 5/6 with Ladbrokes, or for the braver among you, sell total points at 35 with Spreadex… as long as it rains!
