Lunching with the enemy

The Daily Mail is often unkind to Kenneth Clarke, the former Justice Secretary. They have attacked him incessantly for being pro-EU; they roasted him over secret courts; in June last year they attacked him over the cost of his ministerial car; and in May this year they carried mocking photos of him yawning as he took time off to watch cricket at Trent Bridge. But it is nice to know that relations are not altogether frigid. Clarke has just been spotted at lunch with the Daily Mail’s fearsome Editor, Paul Dacre, in Shepherd’s restaurant, in Westminster. Dacre paid.
