A Tory at the races
Wetherby Racecourse in West Yorkshire has had a good start to 201, by being voted Best Racecourse of the North by the Racegoers Club and seeing its chairman John Sanderson awarded the OBE. Tributes posted on its website include one from the local Tory MP Alec Shelbrooke saying that “the Racecourse is no longer a hidden gem on the edge of our town.” This is the same Alec Shelbrooke who thinks that people on welfare should not be given money because they might waste it on gambling and other fripperies. I hope there are no claimants in the crowds at Wetherby Racecourse.
