something1 300x225 Something For The Weekend in London March 15 17This weekend we’ve rounded up a pair of festivals, a homage to H2O, a photography workshop and a hip creperie in Shoreditch that could be the one for your Friday night (or anytime really; we hear they do a mean red velvet!) Plus, we’ve discovered a French trend sweeping into town for all you cool-hunting foodies out there – frunch anyone?

EAT & DRINK: Shutterbug London, 1 Rivington Place, London EC2A 3BA
How much: Various
We say: This cool hotspot in East serves all sorts of savoury and sweet crepes (including their notoriously good red velvet!) – and thankfully, they’re open ‘til midnight on a Friday. Late night eats, sorted.

CINEMA: The Human Right’s Film Festival
How much: Various
We say: Head to the Ritzy, ICA or Curzon Soho this weekend to check out thought-provoking flicks, bringing to light a range of human rights issues around the globe.  On until March 22nd.

ALTERNATIVE: Museum of Water, Memorial Broad Street Pump, corner of Broadwick Street and Poland Street, Soho W1H (last day, March 16th)
How much: FREE
We say: Artist Amy Shamrock has organised a unique exhibit of donated water bottles/containers to explore the issue of how water is used around the world. Featuring daily lectures and stories, the Museum also includes a free pop-up bar serving water from the Broad Street pump.

EAT & DRINKDrunch at the Maille Boutique, Old Spitalfields Market (Opposite The Luxe restaurant) E1 6EW
How much: FREE
We say: It was only a matter of time before someone figured out combining dinner and lunch would be a fabulous idea – so trust the French to be the forerunners, bringing the “Drunch” concept to the capital this weekend. Tickets for this event from Maille are sold out, however we’ve heard there will be a few walk-in seats available – get ‘em if you’re lucky!

ART & CULTURE: Maslenitsa Russian Festival
How much: Various
We say: In Russia, Maslenitsa is a massive celebration that marks the start of Spring – and though the season’s a little bit tardy on these shores, here’s a great opportunity to get stuck into the music, food and culture from our fellow Europeans.

ALTERNATIVE: The Culture Club’s Street Photography Workshop, Shoreditch
How much: £59 (20 per cent off discount available until April 30th)
We say: Our sister site The Culture Club has been organising fun photography workshops around town since ’11 and aren’t slowing down anytime soon; check out their popular street workshop with photographer Nick Gurney this Sunday.
