Something For The Weekend in London: March 22-24
This pre-Easter weekend sees the capital marking the celebrations early with themed festivals and markets, while the launch of a new diner in Farringdon, a flick about Snoop Lion and an infamous party in Shoreditch are also worthy happenings on our radar.
EAT & DRINK: Lazybones, Unit 5, Cowcross Street, London, EC1M 6DQ
How much: Various
We say: This new bar and diner in the east of the city promises slow cooked meats (think pulled pork and brisket sarnies), gourmet hot dogs, veggie delights and DIY popcorn (!), to sort out your Friday night. We’re in!
CINEMA: Reincarnated screening + Q&A with Vice magazine global editor Andy Capper at Curzon Soho, 99 Shaftesbury Ave London W1D 5DY
How much: £13.75 + booking fee
We say: See how the legendary Snoop D.O. Double G” became Snoop Lion in this doc which follows the rapper’s quest to embrace Jamaica’s rasta culture before producing his reggae album.
ALTERNATIVE: Chocolate Festival at Southbank Centre Square (Behind Royal Festival Hall), Belvedere Road, London, SE1 8XX
How much: FREE
We say: Just in time for Easter comes a weekend of chocolate celebrations, where you can indulge in everything from award-winning chocolate to a bowl of Southern chocolate chilli. Other highlights include learning how to create the perfect chocolate bar – yum!
ALTERNATIVE: Time Emporium at Village Underground, 54 Holywell Lane, Shoreditch, London EC2A 3PQ
How much: £25 (£15 for the after party)
We say: Described as an “immersive theatrical gaming adventure and warehouse party,” the guys behind the Winterwell Festival will be transporting revelers back to a bygone era (1381) where they’ll play the chronological adventurer and go on special assignments before partying their cares away.
ALTERNATIVE: Crafty Fox Easter Market at Dogstar, 389 Coldharbour Lane, London SW9 8LQ
How much: FREE entry
We say: Once again, the CFM brings together wonderful crafts, food, workshops and a vintage emporium for those looking for some pre-Easter fun – local DJs will also be providing funky tunes for the market, which runs from 11-5 Saturday and Sunday.
NIGHTLIFE: Journey To The Light at The Light (Upstairs), 233 Shoreditch High Street, London E1 6PJ
How much: £23
We say: Old school disco parties don’t come better than these seasonal gigs organised by the Lucky Cloud Sound System. They’re inspired by David Mancuso, the dance music pioneer who’s been hosting his legendary nights in New York since 1970 – so if you like nothing more than a night of good music and vibes, be here!
