There weren’t many goals about in the Premier League on Saturday but we may see a few here. Villa manager Paul Lambert won’t have earmarked this fixture as one he expects to get anything out of, and he might as well have a go. It’s in his nature anyway, and in fact although right in the midst of a relegation scrap his team are in decent form – eighth in the eight-match form table with 13 goals scored in that run. Villa’s strengths lie on the counter and that explains why their away record is more than respectable – four wins and five draws from their 16 away games is better than any other team in the bottom half of the table. But they have the worst defence in the division against teams in the top half of the table – 41 goals conceded – and their record against Manchester United is simply atrocious – only three wins in 39 attempts since 1992. United always score at Old Trafford and their home games average over 3.5 goals, while Villa’s away games average just under 3.5.

The bottom two teams in La Liga meet tonight in a crunch 9pm kick off live on Sky Sports Extra. Both Celta Vigo (21/20) and Real Zaragoza (3/1) have been scoring at less than a goal a game over the season and with so much at stake the draw must be a serious runner at 5/2.
