iBet: Goals expected at the Bernabeu, but is there a value bet?
Champions League Semi Final, Second Leg
Real Madrid V Dortmund, kick off 7.45pm, ITV1
Back both teams to score at 1.55 (Betfair)
Back Robert Lewandowski to score at any time at 15/8 (BetFred)
It will come as no surprise that I think there will be goals in this game – but so do the markets. Indeed it’s odds on that there will be at least four. The dynamics certainly suggest an open contest is on the cards. Following their 4-1 defeat in the first leg, which featured a masterclass from Dortmund striker Lewandowski, the Germans are just 1.2 (1/5) to qualify with Madrid 5.5 with Betfair (9/2). But that one goal does gives the Spanish a squeak – a 3-0 win would put them through. There is however a major doubt that Mourinho’s men are going to be able to keep a clean sheet. There are bound to leave spaces at the back as they push on, and Dortmund can be ruthless on the counter. As Dortmund can lose and still go through, the 1.66 (4/6) about a home win will interest some. However, Madrid have played Dortmund three times this season, lost twice and drawn the other (at home) 2-2. Both teams to score is not a big price, but might be the best value bet.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the top scorer in this season’s Champions League and he’s top price 8/13 to score at any time tonight. Betfred are taking a position against Lewandowski scoring again after his first-leg, four-goal salvo and go 15/8.
