iBet: Cup tie feel to crunch top four clash

Gareth Purnell

Chelsea V Spurs, kick off 7.45pm, Sky Sports 1

Back over 2.5 goals at 1.78

Back both teams to score at 1.68

Back nine corners and over

This fixture has something of a cup tie feel to it. The game represents both sides’ game in hand over Arsenal in the battle for the Champions League places. If Chelsea can win they have tied up qualification. If Spurs can get three points they go ahead of their bitter north London rivals with two games to play. A draw might simply not be good enough for Tottenham and to me it looks like a game in which both teams will have a right old go. It’s interesting to note that there have been considerably more goals in Spurs’ away fixtures than at White Hart Lane, presumably because teams are more inclined to open up against them. Indeed their away games average nearly 3.5 goals and they are playing the third highest goalscorers at home here. There were six goals when the teams met back in October with Juan Mata grabbing two in a 4-2 win. I would expect more tonight in what could be another entertaining fixture.

Ronnie O’Sullivan has been made a best priced 5/1 favourite for the 2014 Betfair World Snooker Championship following his facile victory at the Crucible – that would look a great price were it not continued threats of retirement.
