Poll alert

John Rentoul

comres Poll alertWe have a ComRes opinion poll in The Independent on Sunday tomorrow, shared with the Sunday Mirror. After an unusual question asked by a Lord Ashcroft poll suggested David Cameron might now be a liability to his party, we have asked our battery of favourable/unfavourable questions to test this.

We asked: “Please indicate whether you have a favourable or unfavourable view of each of the following political leaders and parties…”

David Cameron
The Conservative Party generally
Ed Miliband
The Labour Party generally
George Osborne, the Chancellor
Ed Balls, the Shadow Chancellor
Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London
The Green Party generally

We also asked if people agreed or disagreed with the following statements:

I trust David Cameron and George Osborne to make the right decisions about the economy
I trust Ed Miliband and Ed Balls to make the right decisions about the economy
The problems with NHS Accident and Emergency services are mostly the fault of the last Labour government rather than the current coalition government
David Cameron is right to say “we are making progress at getting our country into shape”
David Cameron has shown strong leadership in his dealings with other countries as Prime Minister
I trust the Government to protect people’s privacy on the internet from ‘snooping’ by American intelligence agencies
The internet is bad for family life
The richest countries in the world have a responsibility to help the world’s poor through spending on international aid

I will post the results here this evening, and the full tables will be on the ComRes website.
