urbaninterpreation 213x300 Something For The Weekend in London: July 12 14 The heat is on in more ways than one this weekend – French and Mexican festivities will guarantee your cultural fix, while cross-continental urban art, an event for sporting chaps and a new alfresco restaurant in the city ensures the next three days will be as brilliant as they can be.

ARTS & CULTURE: Mexfest 2013, Rich Mix, 35-47 Bethnal Green Road, London, E1 6LA

How much: Various

We say: It’s a celebration of all things Mexicana in Shoreditch this weekend, so brace yourself for the finest music, art, films, food – and a lot of tequila!

ARTS & CULTURE: Urban Interpretation at Graffik Gallery, 284 Portobello Rd London W10 5TE

How much: FREE

We say: GG’s latest exhibition presents collaborative work from South African and British artists, resulting in some pretty striking pieces inspired by both cultures. It’s urban art, but not as you know it.

ALTERNATIVE: The Note Well vous présente: La Grande Fête at The Palatine Bar & Gallery, 97 Stoke Newington Road, N16 8BX

How much: Free before 9pm, £3 after

We say: Few crews do fun times like The Note Well, so to mark Bastille Day on the 14th, they’re having a massive party the night before featuring themed games, their infamous Note-aoke, prizes, late night disco and a crossaint speed-eating, no doubt for your amusement. Ha!

ALTERNATIVE: Chap Olympiad, Bedford Square Gardens, Bedford Square Gardens, Bedford Square WC1B 3ES

How much: £20

We say: If you haven’t checked out the Chap Olympiad, you simply haven’t lived. Now in its 9th year, this eccentric sporting event has in the past featured hilarious games such as iron board surfing, umbrella jousting and the three-trousered limbo – so this year should be no exception (nor should be missed!)

EAT & DRINK: Field’s Bar & Kitchen, Lincoln’s Inn Field, London, WC2A 3TL

How much: Various

We say: The award-winning Benugo have headed to Lincoln’s Inn Field with a new all day restaurant serving burgers, pizza and salads, quite fitting for al fresco dining.

ARTS & CULTURE: Bastille Day at Borough Market, Southwark Street, Bankside, London SE1 1TJ

How much: FREE

We say: One of the loveliest markets in the capital are going all out for the French National Day with food, games for kids, promenade tours, performances and bi-lingual storytelling.
