iBet: Hardly an ideal Capital One Cup draw for beleaguered Coventry

It never rains; but it pours. Just as Coventry fans were trying to compute having to play home games at Northampton’s ground, their historic club gets plunged into receivership and deducted 10 points. The Sky Blues are now as short as 1/5 in places to be relegated from League One, although you can still get around 1.5 with betting exchange Betfair.
To rub salt into their open wounds, on the field the team actually played okay in their opening fixture against Crawley, coming back from 2-0 to level on 82 minutes, only to fall to defeat through a late Crawley goal. And they could have done without drawing Leyton Orient, who will be buzzing after thumping five past Carlisle on Saturday – more goals than any other team managed in the three main English leagues in action.
Orient finished only one place and four points off the play-offs last season and with plenty more players leaving than coming in over the summer, they are not expected to improve on that. And it has to be noted that Russell Slade’s outfit played against ten men for much of the Carlisle game and the result flatters them. But although they may not have strength in depth, their first team is decent and full of confidence. They have not been beaten at home since February and right now you have to be a layer of Coventry, as morale must be on the floor.
Sheffield Wednesday will count themselves unlucky to have come away from Championship favourites QPR with nothing on opening day and may find League One Rotherham more to their liking. There could be goals here – Rotherham played two friendlies against Championship opposition in July and shipped six times, but they also scored three, and their opening day match against Crewe finished 3-3. There could be a few bookings too in this South Yorkshire clash. Rotherham and Sheffield are separated by the M1 and less than 10 miles.
