iBet: Bayern have to be backed to beat Chelsea
Bayern Munich V Chelsea, kick off 7.45pm, live ITV and Sky Sports 1
Back Bayern Munich at 8/11
Back Bayern Munich on the Corners Match Bet
Bayern Munich are my bet of the week in the Supercup match against Chelsea at the available odds of 8/11 with Betfair Sportsbook. Let us not forget, this is the unit that dismantled the best team most of us have ever seen, Barcelona, in the Champions League last season, winning 5-0 over two legs, including a stunning 3-0 victory at Camp Nou.
They also added the domestic double and they can rightly claim to be the best club side in European and, most probably, world football. Bayern had scored at least two in seven of their last eight competitive matches until their 1-1 domestic draw this week, when you have to suspect their minds were more on this.
Two will probably be enough tonight, and it’s not as if they as resting on their laurels, having added £32 million Mario Gotze to the squad and with a certain Pep Guardiola taking the reins. Chelsea have some fine players but are a work in progress and there is no-one of Bayern’s quality in the Premier League. For me the Germans are NAP material at 8/11.
I’ve been through the last 10 Supercup finals looking for any trends in bookings, goals and corners and there is nothing that stands out to recommend a bet on those markets. However, it is interesting to note that Chelsea have won only seven corners in their first three competitive matches under Mourinho this season and only two in their last two games. Bayern play with two natural wide men and there may be value in backing the Germans in the Corners Match Bet with Betfair, or buying Bayern Munich Corner Supremacy on the spreads.
