iBet: Watch City V Bayern, Bet In Moscow!
Champions League Group D
CSKA Moscow v Viktoria Plzen, kick off 5pm
Lay over 3.5 goals at 3.4 with Betfair
The game to watch tonight is surely Manchester City V Bayern Munich. But I can’t call it from either a match odds, goals, bookings or corners perspective and better value might lie in the relatively low-key game in Moscow, where two teams who are particularly tight at the back go head to head.
Moscow lie fourth in the Russian top division after 11 games, but a feature of those fixtures is that they have only conceded 11 goals. They are even meaner at home, where they have shipped only twice in five fixtures, which have produced only eight goals in total. And in Plzen they meet a team who may be even better at keeping a tight ship than they are.
The Czechs have made defending something of an art form. Their 10 league games have seen them concede only seven goals this season and it’s nothing new – in winning the Czech league last term they shipped only 21 goals in 30 games. And neither side is exactly on fire in front of goal either. Leonid Slutsky’s CSKA are winless in their last three Russian Premier League games and have gone 279 minutes without scoring. Plzen had gone 272 minutes without troubling the scorer until Frantisek Rajtoral’s opener in Friday’s 2-1 win at Vysocina Jihlava. It probably won’t be 0-0, but at the price on Betfair’s exchange it might be worth betting that there are not four goals or more in game.
For the first time in years it’s possible to come up with a cogent argument that Paris St-Germain are a much stronger side than Benfica. The Portuguese champions have won the last three league titles, but currently sit in fifth behind Porto, Sporting Lisbon, Braga and Estoril. They have won only one of their three domestic league games away from home and scored only three times in the process. Paris are not yet in top gear but they lie second in the French top flight in which they are undefeated after eight games. They are full of quality and might be a touch of value at 4/5. The game kicks off at 7.45pm.
